Can Anybody Reccomend a good code reader for a 99 Terios?

I'm having some problems and need a reader that will give live readouts can anyone recommend one that will work on a 99 Terios?

There is a lot of conflicting information on what ones will and will not work.

There are plenty of code readers about. It all depends if the 1999 Terios has an ODB-II Port like the rest of the Daihatsu model of cars. I would bet yes.
Also when you say live? What are you wishing to show from the ECU? I take it you mean to show information about Lambda, MAP etc..
Or are you trying to get error codes being thrown by the ECU?

Can recommend a tool like a scangauge II ( I have one of these in my YRV and has been invaluable for sorting out issues) which will show both of these. Can be bought off EBay for over £100 but is a very handy tool to have to get readouts from the ECU and show any error codes thrown up via the ECU (if you have any that is?) and clear them if needed. What this tool will not do is show any stored codes from the past, the only tool that can do this is a specialist reader tha you would find at a dealership. You can get these but can be very expensive and normally only plugged in after driving the car for checking issues.

There is a plug under the dash on my car, I was told that I didn't have much of a chance at fixing it myself without some live data of what the engine was doing.

Is the Scangauge transferable easy enough from one car to the other?

Yes the Scangauge is a device which can be transferred between cars without any issues.
