Not sure if i have a problem or not, but here goes;
Starting procedure is as follows;
1) key in.
2) Turn to 'glow' posn.
3) wait until glow light goes out.
4) turn key to start.
We appear to have a very slight pause, say 1/2 second, between turning the key to start and any movement of the starter motor - is this normal:?
The car starts immediately and with no problems at all, however, we have noticed this slight delay over the past couple of days.
Could it be the solenoid atop the starter being slow to pull in and hence engage the main contact for starting
Any clues..:help:
Cheers,
things like this are normally
things like this are normally an electrical breakdown in connection, I would say you have a slightly corroded earthing point somewhere, but where is.....well you gotta remove connectors n clean :-D, the other slight possibility is damp, and seeings as the whole country is under water, it is indeed a possibility.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Cheers, will see if it's persistent and if any change in weather affects it!
Have had earth faults before and fun they're not!
Will keep you posted as i find out...
P.s. does the glow circuit ave any interlock with the starter side?

They do have a noticeable
They do have a noticeable delay before the starter turns.
Most common causes are: bad earth from battery to starter motor, worn brushes in the starter, clogged and dirty solonoid internals, arced solonoid contact terminals, worn starter switch on the end of the ignition barrel, and poor connection to the starter wire from the ignition through the wire cores snapping.
