Can you elaborate further on what you mean by the bonnet catch mechanism? Are you talking about the actual pull lever inside of the cabin not working correctly to open the bonnet? Or the entire catch is broken and doesn't hold the bonnet down?

The bit under the bonnet. It holds the bonnet in place in the position it should be at when you've pulled the cable inside. The rivet/hinged bit is all loose and wobbly.
My technical word play is exemplary!
A mark 1 or 2 sirion catch maybe the way to go

as said, maybe worth also looking at getting one off a daihatsu sirion.
There is an ebay seller called 'patch2spots' who breaks Daihatsu sirions. Maybe worth contacting him to see if he has a bonnet catch for sale.
