Having just spent an hour trying to get the larger bottom pin out of my Sirion Caliper. I found it was bent! Does anyone know where to get hold of new Caliper pins? Looks like the last time anyone changed them they had not heard of copper grease! Does the firm tht refurbs the calipers sell the pins separately?
Copper grease must NEVER be
Copper grease must NEVER be used on slider pins! One month later it dries out and will have seized up.
Copper grease is for back of pads only (can help reduce squeal), Or for general corrosion protection on bolt threads.
Any local engineering shop will make you new pins for a few quid if your can't get them. Stainless steel best.
Not sure why but people seem to think it is difficult or expensive to get parts like this custom made. Infact you usually find quite the opposite with a local engineering firms only happy to help, and often done in a few hours and only a few pounds.
Or visit a Daihatsu dealer, get ripped off and have to wait 4 weeks for it to arive from Japan.

Yes a lower was seized solid, needed all my Dads strength to turn the bolt and that was after it was totally undone from the thread!
