Forum:
I have just bought my YRV as my first car (thanks to my Dads help!), however it only came with 1 key (black handle end), as I'm a bit careless with keys I want a spare ASAP, I can get one and get it cut quite cheap, but what's the most cost effective way of getting it matched to the cars security system please? Is there a 'DIY' matching process (which we have for my Mums Mazda) or do I have to either get the 'chip' matched or pay a delear with one (or more) of my limbs?

Welcome!
Luckily you have the Master key (Black Key) in your possession. As the YRV normally comes with 3 keys (1 x Black (Master key for programming) and 2 x Dark Grey to be used everyday) and a remote key entry fob to remotely lock and unlock the car doors.
As for getting a spare then this would be a good idea, as you shouldn't really be using the master key all the time. How to get this done? Maybe worth looking online and possibly ebay. Or you could try asking at the local stealership to see how much they would charge to get you a key or 2 programmed up from the master key.
Had a quick look online and there was a company offering to do this for £20 just to give you an idea on costs.
Unfortunately I don't know how to do the key programming. But do know how to program the remote fobs for locking and unlocking the doors
