Sirion Rally 2

Forum:

Just had a new stainless system fitted - very nice. BUT 1 week on and my engine management light has just come on! Still seems to be running fine, but I wondered if it was because I asked them to leave the middle silencer out, so it jut has the back box (sounds really nice on the over-run, and not too much louder in normal use, just a slightly louder burble). Any ideas?

exhaust

Scan it and check they fitted 2nd lambda probe into your exhaust? if they didn't theres your problem.

If it comes up as bank 2 sensor, fit a spacer between your exhaust and probe

Shall see if my brother has

Shall see if my brother has diagnostic equipment to scan it with. They made the exhaust from after the cat and I could see that they'd fitted a probe but I haven't had a good look yet.
Thanks for the advice.

Weary

mine has thrown up codes

mine has thrown up codes before on the evap system for no reason, so check that too. back of engine, behind gearbox

2 Lambda/O2 as standard

Sounds too coincidental that after having a new exhaust system fitted the ECU has thrown up a code.
As others have said it maybe the second Lambda probe that's at fault.
If the old lambda has been used it could be that the exhaust company have used the original and welded this in place but doing so may have damaged the probe.
Worth getting some new ones anyway as this is a known issue being reported by all Daihatsu drivers on the original probes now beginning to fail after age.
