MIL remains on even after "fix"

Forum:

My Daihatsu Sirion began flashing its MIL at me so I took it in to a garage for diagnostic checks. This gave the error code of a misfiring cylinder, which was duly fixed with new coil packs. The MIL then turned off, so I and the garage thought it was fixed. However, a mile down the road the light came back on. The error code reader could not find any error codes coming from the engine (2-3 different readers have been tried).

Does anyone know what it might be? The MIL has remained on and has provided no error codes for a couple of days now. Any suggestions are welcome, I have no idea!

Try an ECU reset. By this I mean the simplest method. Unplug the car battery for an hour and re connect back in and see if the light comes back on. Which garage did you go to? Was it a daihatsu one? If so the Daihatsu garage should have used the proper diag kit for your car. The proper kit also shows past error codes stored in the ECU and can clear them. Hopefully the unplugging of the battery will help.

Edited to add: noticed in your profile you drive a light blues Sirion S, I pass a light blue Sirion S every day on the A556. Not you is it?

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that tomorrow. I do work in Cheshire but it's very north Cheshire and I commute from Liverpool, so that isn't me I'm afraid! Hopefully they're enjoying their Sirion better than I am mine at the moment...

EDIT: And no, it wasn't an official Daihatsu garage. The nearest one is about half an hour away, but I'll go there if your suggestion doesn't work.
