Forum:
Hi All,
Firstly, apologies for how I've worded the subject but I wanted others who follow to have better luck than I did in finding an existing thread which covers this. If this has been answered fully elsewhere (and I'm sure it must have been), well I gave up searching and browsing after about 2 hours.
Having set up my fire extinguisher, hopefully without pre-offending the genuinely helpful, I'll ask my question. A number of the threads here suggest that it's possible to replace the 3-stage rear dampers with standard/non-adjustable ones. Some of those threads also go on to say that some fabrication may be required.
So, before I spend £100ish on a new pair, does anyone know for sure (preferably from experience) if the non-adjustable ones are a direct replacement with or without modifications?
Gratitude in advance.
Regards
SixFingersMike
Shocks.
Non-adjustable are a replacement for the three stage shocks. No noticeable bounce to the electric models which probably failed in your motor some time ago and went unnoticed until they leaked! I suggest you remove one shock absorber and take it to your local motor shop which should easily match it to a non-adjustable, probably made by Quinton Hazell. Somewhere on this site is the catalogue number for a replacement. It would probably be quicker to take your shock to a good motor shop rather than search this web site.
If you go web searching there are loads to buy cheaper on-line. [£35.65 for non-adjustable]

sportrak shocks
I bought some off Ebay which were a huge improvement on the old orginal 3 stage ones ( which had probably been one stage for 5 years anyway) They were a straightforward job to fit, one nut on the axle undo access panel on rear floor ( 4x12mm headed bolts) to get to the top mounting. Half an hour each?
De Carbon do them and they
De Carbon do them and they are about the best of the bunch, wouldn't fit anything else to the Fourtrak, reasonable price and top quality.
