Been to my local Daihatsu service place today to get my YRV Turbo serviced and MOT'd. Was having a discussion with the service guy there who I know about the new shape Sirions and the Materia. Apparently this garage is starting to see the following issues coming in from the New shape Sirion and Materia:

- ECU and Electric steering issues where the ECU gets fried (New shape Sirion at the moment)

- Water pump issues where the water pump is required to be replaced due to bearing issues on the pump (both New shape Sirion and Materia).

At the moment the service guy at the garage has told me that they are getting the odd car in with these issues, they already had one in on a 58 plate with a power steering issue that had 68,000 on the clock. Not sure if this is something Daihatsu UK are aware of and/if it will be something covered on a recall or not, and it's not just related to 1.5 engine cars. Then again the YRV also suffers from Water pump issues as well.

Just passing on the news to owners as this is something that they might want to investigate.
