Forum:
I have a 94 L Reg Sportrak ELXi Limited. Its mint in every way, its had no rust or dents....touch wood!
I need the valve stem oil seals, head shaving, Pistons replacing ( piston slap ), re - bore etc to make it into a recoditioned engine, losing oil etc, but not burning it, no black somke etc.
Would it be better to replace the engine or carry out the work on the engine I have in?? I've been quoted £800 - £1000 to get it all done and dusted! Or would you just buy a second hand / re con engine?? ( I need a 1.6i )
Can someone please help? and possibilly give me some places of where I can get a engine from, if thats the cheaper option!!??.
I plan on keeping the sportrak, so plane to do one or the other!! PLEASE NEED HELP!

Hi Andy,
Watch what you buy on ebay or any other autions you could end up with a load of cr**p the quote you've had seems quite pricey to me I would personally look around for another one and compair it or look for another vehical and use that as a donor car (switch engins over) or another option is a recondition one Im sure someone somewhere does these, try the parts dealers on this site dont rush into it make sure its all ok even if you need to pay someone to check it out first who knows what there looking at, what you dont want is a cowboy selling you cr**p.
Alfie.
