Forum:
I`ve got a bastard of a wobbly on my front tyres/wheels, mainly noticable at between 30 mph and 40 mph.
Just replaced the steering damper, had the wheels balanced, checked the tyres, all the usual stuff but have just found that the track rod end is rattling around when you shake the wheel side to side.
Someone said this would affect the steering all the time and not when at a certain speed. Can anybody shed any light on this, I`ve ordered a set of track rod ends anyway but if its something else i`d love to know before my missus lynches my for "playing around with that bloody shed of a truck" as she puts it!!!
I`m running 33/12.50/15 with a spring over axle if that helps!!

on the top and bottom of each hub theres a swivel pin undo the four bolts from each one and remove the shims re-tighten , this should sort it (hopefully) worked for me! ....regards guy
King pins

This may well be too simple,
This may well be too simple, but... Do you run your 4trak with the free wheeling hubs locked in all the time? (If it has auto hubs, are they working properly?)
I ask becouse your unbalence may be propshaft related, & not wheel related.
For that mater the problem could be your rear prop anyway.
If your sure your front prop isn't turning under normal road use, try removing the rear prop compleatly, and driving around in 4wd (basicly making your 4trak a front wheel drive. If the vibration goes away, you know where the falt layes.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
prop vibration
it happened on my fourtrakits not prop related , its all to do with running huge rubber...regards guy
BIG wobbles no longer !!!
Cheers chaps but the track rod ends were shot, replaced with new, now no wobbles, well nothing that i know isn`t related to running 33`s.
Yes i do run with the hubs locked on, i`ve found that there is absolutely no difference in fuel consumption as people state, and i always forget to get out and put them on when i`m stuck in the mire!!

wheel wobbles
cookie did the track rod ends cure it completely....regards guy
Not quite!!
Guy, i thought it did but i`ve just developed a wobble at around 40 mph only, no where near as bad as before but it`s a pain in the arse.
I reckon it may be down to the tyres i`m running on the front, i`m gonna swap them with the rear ones that were brand new not so long back and put the older ones on the rear. This might tell me if the tyres are bulging or starting to give abit with age.
I`ll let you know,
Keep the faith !!

BIG Wobbles cured
It`s all sorted now. It was a tyre problem!!!
