I've been told that i need a new reverse light gearbox switch as my reverse lights dont come on when I select reverse gear..I've phoned round and emailed loads of places and haven't had much luck. I've got a 2.8 Diesel fourtrak SWB 'G' reg. Can anyone help..? Andy

Common problem. New switch is expensive and there are no other options. Switches at the wreckers will most likely be full of oil as well. Pulling the old switch apart and cleaning can be done but is difficult. I did without reverse lights for ten years, replaced the switch with one from the wreckers which failed to work then a few months later it worked ands has since without trouble.

Of course there is always the bodge method. Wire the reverse lights to a dash mounted switch with a big warning light, or audible warning.
