Forum:
Greetings once again from 66Morth.
My trusty Sporty continues to cut a swathe through the powdery white stuff, and starts without hesitation despite the unusually cold November up here (-28c in the North)The addition of studded tyres has ensured stability on breaking, though my old Subaru Justy stopped in a straighter line!
My problem is I need to change the headlamps for driving in Iceland, as the vehicle was purchased in the UK.Or is it possible to adjust/fiddle them so that the beam doesn´t dazzle oncoming drivers? I´m totally thick at things mechanical...
Does anybody know where I can get a pair of headlamps compatible with driving on the ´other´side of the road, from a UK perspective? They are scarce here, as the gravel roads take their toll...
If anybody is interested in driving across the Sprengisandur "road", the last great wilderness in Europe between volcanoes and glaciers, completely devoid of trees and tarmac then get in touch and I´ll forward the relevant info. There is a summer ferry service to and from Aberdeen, also a container shipping service from Immingham in Engerland!
ATB and many thanks for considering the above

You should be able to adjust
You should be able to adjust your headlights to suit. Look around the edges of the headlights, you should see 2 or 3 long screws with springs on them. These are the adjusters. Screw these in and out to adjust the up and down, and side to side, of the headlights. You may have to remove your grill to gain access to these screws. And a little bit of lube on the threads does wonders for freeing them up.
Have fun, ya lucky bugger, all that white stuff to drive in. It barely gets below 10 deg C here.

are you in europe or oz somewhere? well, if you're down under somewhere, then maybe you've never noticed it but the head lamps on a rhd vehicle have the right angle of the focussed beam on the left hand side. hence doesn't dazzle the oncoming drivers here (U.K.), oz, japan etc. have a check, park your vehicle about ten feet away from a wall and turn on the lights, you'll see the beam is actually triangular. i suspect the screws you are talking about will just adust the hight and direct (left to right) of these beams and not where the right angle is. i've only ever come across one vehicle that ever did this, re-arrange the triangle and that was believe it or not, a renault 11 (YUK!!!). so, short of buying those silly little black triangle silly things that make you loose a load of the beam, our friend has to buy new head lamps unless there is a kit available, which i don't think he wants.
next, if anyone comes accross one, i'm inerested too, for me and my sportrak in rotterdam (not that i'm too bothered really, i've never ever seen a foreign car in england with them, so why should i bother!!...o.k. i never said that, it's a terrible attitude...oops).
