Can anybody help? I`ve just had the bad news from the garage, the main bearing in my gearbox has gone and i need to get my hands on another. can anybody tell me the best place to get a gearbox from close to where i live? My area is Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham. Thanks in advance.

Try entering what you want on some of those online breakers sites, they are linked to others so someone will turn one up from somewhere. Keep an eye on Ebay, too.
What convinces them it is the main bearing? Have they actually removed the 'box? From what I remember, the main input bearing looks pretty accesible so would be fairly straightforward without resorting to drastic measures like that.

Thanks mate, sourced a complete gearbox for £175 the locals are gonna put it in for £125. not bad i thought.
