Charade backfiring and stalling

Forum:

Hi everyone
I've got a 1984 1.0L turbo charade
There is a problem with it and it usually happens in 3rd gear when the car gets into higher revs and when the engine is under load. The car starts to backfire and jump and then stall and i usually have to slow down or pull over so the car would run normally again.

I thought maybe the fuel was cutting out for some reason or something to do with ignition timing. Anyone know how i can check?
Any other ideas?

Thanks

91 Applause Stalling

Hi everyone

I have a 91 Applause that has been running fine up until now. It had some problems starting and then would stall while driving along. The coil and distributor has been replaced, and the computer removed and the connections resoldered. Now it seems to be idleing very low, and will stall occasionally after breaking and changing gears. It is driving me mad.

Any advice?
Tah

Can someone who has a worksho

Can someone who has a workshop manual or who knows off by heart tell me which screw is the idle adjusting screw and which one is the air/fuel mixture adjusting screw. There are two screws but i don't know which one is which. One of them is smaller and has like a metal surrounding and the other one is longer is above the smaller one.
I just need to know which one does what.

Charade EL 1.0

Just a quick question regarding the exhaust on this car, I want to put a stainless steel exhaust on this car and wanted to know if anyone else has moded there car the same way and if so where did they get there exhaust from?

I have looked around on the net and asked at Daihatsu dealers if there is a better exhaust other than the standard one that comes with it, and there doesnt seem to be any others available.

cheers

Neil

BACKFIRING

SUALLY BACK FIRING IS ASSOCIATED WITH INCORRECT TIMING. IT WOULD BE WORTH CHECKING THAT PLUS THE CONDITION OF THE PLUGS AND LEADS WHICH COULD BE BREAKING DOWN UNDER LOAD. PLUG LEADS ARE SUJECTED TO HOT AND COLD EXTREME TEMPERATURES AND TAKE A HUGE AMOUNT OF POWER TO THE PLUGS. THESE TEND TO BREAK DOWN WITH AGE INTERNALLY BUT BECAUSE THE OUTSIDES REMAIN REASONABLE MOST OF US IGNORE THE IMPOTANCE OF THEM BEING IN GOOD CONDITION.
