New Sportrak....

Forum:

Picked up the Sportrak toady and drove it home through London Rush Hour-always the best way to acclimatise to a new car!

Anyway, it transpires that the steering lock on these things is truly awful which leads to a massive turning circle compared to what I'm used to. This lead to some interesting moments when manouvering..

Are they all like this then?

ALso mine steams up on the windows a lot. Are they reknowned for this or is it just a case of a leak (not apparent) or somehow having got damp inside?

Apart from that, all seems well!

The lock on most real 4x4's is prity poor. However you can adjust the stops. They are just a bolt on either side. The head of the bolt stops the wheels from turning too far.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Ah, that will be worth checking out when I whip the wheels of to re paint them. I'm getting used to the steering on it now, but it still likes getting stuck in road ruts and tramlining, which gets interesting at times... Tyre pressures ok, so I can rule that one out. Misting only seems to be when it rains, but there really doesn't appear to be any leaks. Maybe it's just damp air through the air vents. Trouble is, when I have the fan on setting 2 with enouvgh heast to demist it dries my eyes out too much. Great..
