YRV Turbo 130 Brake Discs

Forum:

Anybody out there know of a reliable and cheap supplier of brakes discs for YRV Turbo 130? Have purchased standard discs but they are a smaller diameter. The Turbo's pads are same as Suzuki Ignis! Haven't tried dealer for discs, but I know he won't be cheapest option!
We have two silver YRV's in family, I have turbo and wife has F Speed Lux 50 with red leather.

YRV 130 BRAKES

Hi YRV130,
try www.sapmotorparts.com , not bought any from them but prices seem cheap. Needs checking though cos it lists them as solid??
www.buypartsby.co.uk are great for mail order parts, best speaking on the phone first, again to double check the info. They got it wrong once for my GTti but had no problem returning part all expenses paid.
www.speedways.co.uk list them but not cheap but you can select drilled and grooved options!! Remember the Sirion has the same brakes which is quite handy when searching.
Hope this helps.
Dai Dave.

YRV Turbo 130 Brake Discs

Thanks Dave, Tried all of these sites. They all show disc diameter as 234mm which the discs on my turbo aren't! Diameter is nearer 240mm and thickness of discs is nearer to 18mm than the 16mm quoted by most suppliers. Will keep looking!

Yrv Brakes

Ummm??? Not sure what size mine are.
Another job added to my Yrv checklist.
Try these guys,
BRAKES INTERNATIONAL (ROCHDALE, LANCASHIRE)01706 666999. Best phone but check them out at www.brakesint.co.uk
They are my local supplier who can get a brake for anything.
Not sure on prices but they vary due to trade or joe public. I call in wearing dirty overalls and the price always is less than quoted over the phone days earlier!! If you get to speak to Jason, just mention you were recomended by Dave who has the Black Daihatsu Charade GTti, trade discount guaranteed (well 99% sure!)
I will do some research also , going to need some myself soon.
D Dave.

YRV Turbo 130 Brake Discs

Thanks for that info, I'll give them a call tomorrow. Gone are the good old days when brake discs lasted about 10 years instead of 30k miles!

Yrv Brakes

Sorry i did not post their info earlier. I could not find their number, know if they had a website until now or do mail order.
Your right, mine look pretty worn for only 16k, wonder if you can give them back under warranty?????

YRV Turbo 130 brake discs

Unfortunately Brakes International couldn't help! Phoned dealer, they had one part no. for discs for all YRV's - wrong! They phoned Daihatsu's central parts section who said one disc for all YRV's! - still wrong! Fotunately dealer is a good guy, even he thought it would be dodgy to use same braking system on 86bhp car as on 127bhp car! He persisted with Diahatsu's Technical Department who after a couple of calls admitted they were a different part no. from standard. Result is that I have had to order them from dealer at 'about £70 per disc'. Will post part no. and dimensions of discs once I get them to see if it helps anyone else out there with worn front brakes.

Yrv Brakes

Suprised Brakes International could not help, will wind them up next time i see them!! Looks like Daihatsu's at it again, just like they have done with the GTti, dealer only parts at high prices and secret info to stop copies. Nothing should suprise us about Daihatsu brakes, earlier high performance cars had rear disc brakes but the Yrv has drums, WHY?? You mentioned it has same pads as Suzuki Ignis, what disc do they use?

YRV brakes

Thought of that myself! Speedways suggest the Ignis has discs 257mm in diameter - seem a bit too big. If I knew a 'friendly' motor factor I would borrow a set for a look.

I have just got pads today for the turbo from e bay for £9.79 plus postage, they are Apec Pad 1111 - they also are approved for YRV; Copen; Ignis 1.3 & 1.5 and Suzuki Super Carry!!!! I think your correct, Diahatsu's performance models use the same pads as two 'cooking' models from Suzuki - seems like cost cutting.

Yrv Brakes

Looks like its a tape measure at the parts shop counter then!
Surely this disc is not unique to the turbo, i wonder if or what Toyota model might share the part?

Discs

How old is the car? I had to have my discs replaced on it's 2nd service as they had corroded really badly. Surprisingly they were covered under the warranty. Might be worth checking out...

YRV Turbo 130 brake discs

Car is 2 1/2 years old 30k miles on an '03 plate. Car is due service on saturday and dealer has already ordered discs for me, so I can but ask for a warranty claim for new discs!

Discs

Whilst speaking to Daihatsu customer service last week I asked about discs. He said they are NOT covered as they are consumables. Having said that he then said the exhaust is covered!! Amazing.
Dave.

YRV Turbo 130 Brake Discs

Exhaust is covered, I got a new one under warranty last November! The exhaust broke at the weld where it goes from single to double pipes. I hope this new one lasts more than 2 years!

Re the new discs from Rossini, but given the problem I've had, if yours is a turbo, check the diameter of the discs they are selling you!!!

yrv turbo brake discs

Everywhere I have looked, the specification for the YRV turbo is 234mm diameter discs.

YRV Turbo 130 Brake Discs

As promised, here are dimensions for YRV Turbo 130 brake discs as supplied from dealer, figures for standard YRV in brackets;

External diameter 246mm (234mm)
Thickness 17mm ( 16mm)
Height 42mm ( 41mm)
Hub Diameter 150mm (138mm)

Daihatsu part no. is 43512 - 97402

Unfortunately the discs are cast with the Daihatsu 'D' and not a manufacturer's name.

Hope this info. is useful to anyone trying to source new YRV Turbo discs!

yrv turbo 130 brake discs/pads

That's useful info, thanks. The 234mm Rossini drilled and grooved discs look a little different - certainly the hub diameter is a little smaller, but that shouldn't be a problem. The 16mm thickness is ok as 15mm is the minimum. I'll just have to wait and see if they fit ok or not. The front pads are also a problem - the suzuki ignis type pads are very different from the daihatsu pads shown in the workshop manual - so I have ordered another set and will send back the incorrect ones.

Seems that YRV Turbo front br

Seems that YRV Turbo front brake discs are only available from Daihatsu - the standard 234mm are too small. Also, the standard YRV pads do not fit - as someone else mentioned the YRV Turbo pads are the same as the Suzuki Ignis.

Ferodo fast road brake pads

A while ago, someone on this forum was saying that the Ferodo fast road brake pads fitted to the Sirion Rally models, work great on the YRV Turbo and are a great improvment.

Has anyone tried these pads?

Does anyone know how much they cost and can they be bought from any where, other than a Daihatsu dealer?
