1988 F75. slop in steering box

Hi all. I have a fourtrack with truck loads of play in the power steering box, which although is not an MOT fail makes aiming in the right direction a bit tricky. Is it possible to take out some shims to tighten it up or have I got to replace it?

Box crome.

I can't advise on 4track box. However some time ago I had a shogun steering box repaired. The slack was removed by crome coating the parts. Try asking you local motor dealer if they know of a local repairer.

Not absolutely sure about a power steering box, but a manual one has an adjuster bolt. Its on top, a screw slot on top, with a locking nut. Losten off the nut, and screw the bolt in till the slack is taken up, then retighten the nut.
