Good god no, don't do that! If you must Diesel it, put in the terbo lump, or a 2.5 DG. The 2.8 NA is gutless. And unless you are changing the diffs, or putting much begger wheels on a Diesel will not be any cheeper to run, as it will be reving through the roof all the time.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

thanks for the warning and advice Nev, I know DL is not great but I'm trying to "create" as original an F60 spec machine as I can ( see page 17 for photos of what I used to drive 25 years ago) - I'm looking for F50 diffs at the moment - would F70 diffs do the job ( I think F70 axles are too long but the diffs may be interchangeble with the diffs on the F20 axles - any ideas?
