Will using key on 2006 Sirion set alarm off?

Forum:

My remote won't open the doors. Lights don't flash. Don't know whether it is the fob battery or the car battery not working. My manual is in the car so I don't know if the alarm will go off if I use the door key? Any advice welcome. Thank you.

Don't be alarmed

RC,

I have a Sirion 2008, so things are similar. And my guess is the fob battery has faded away and not the car battery gone flat – it is the most likely unless you know you have had problems with the car battery.

To my knowledge Sirion cars of this era do not have an alarm, unless yours is a special fit model. The usual standard is that the key/fob operates the central locking and immobiliser only. If it is standard you will not set off an alarm should you use the key instead of the fob.

As an aside, I always use the key because the fob is easily nudged upon pocketing it and I have had instances of unknowingly unlocking the car. Not good.

Regards

Phil

I assume either the

I assume either the dealership or a previous owner had one fitted. Either way the fob controls both the central locking and the alarm. Does the fob have a make written on it, Daihatsu dealerships did use Cobra alarm systems that also had a hidden transponder point to touch with a smaller bullet fob in the event the central locking fob was lost damaged and the key used to open the door.

Definitely try a new fob battery before anything else. How to stop the alarm if all fails is up to you Smile

What made you think you had one if you'd never heard it go off?

Sirion alarm

Very good question! Not got a good answer though. I think it's probably because I also sometimes drive my partner's car and that alarm goes off sometimes.

Haha in all fairness the Proton Satria Neo that has been in the family for a few years, we never knew it had an alarm until the battery went flat and the battery back up in the siren (neatly tucked away) went off!

Alarm on Sirion

Thank you for your reply. I feel rather stupid as you are right, there is no alarm! In the end I established that the battery was flat as I had left the interior light on. Thanks again.
