There are several ways it can be done.
1) Replace axles with Range Rover / Defender, and weld appropriat suspencion mounts and panard rod mounts to chassis. You would also need to make some sort of conversion to conect the Daihats box to the Rangi / Landi axles.
2) Cut all but long leaf (one with eyes, which actualy bolts to chassis) out of spring pack. Replace shock absorbers with spring over shocks.
3) (For rear axle only). Fit a peice of box section in place of the leaf spring, bolting to the front spring mount. Weld a plat to the box behind the axle. Mount a coil between the plait and the chassis. You will also need to mount a panard rod to stop sideways axle movment.

Coil over shocks

Hi Nev.

Re your comment (2)

Very interesting !!!!!!. This is what I have had many thoughts about, something I always wished I had tried on my Mk1 Landrover.(Many years ago). Care to post some more thoughts on this, and suggestions to what coil over shock one should use. On my Mk1 Landrover I was planing to use Ford Transit(single leaf, early model) modified with a grinder to fit the shackles, this was pre parabolic springs era.

Hi. When I did this to the rear of my triler I used Polo Diesel front coil overs. This was becouse I wanted them soft and floppy, being a trieler. Worked prety well.
For a road car I think you are right to be thinking van for the front. A 4trak weighs in at about 2tonn, so SWB Transit, Sprinter, Transporter, etc would probably do the job.
For the rear I think something out of the front of a Diesel Saloon or Estate should be enough (unless your planing to use to trak as a workhorse, in which case I'd leave the rear alone).
The other thing to consider is shock mountings. A long shock will find you strugeling to find somewhere to mount it, without cutting holes in the iner wings / reare floor pan.
