Hello all, I bought a ST earlier this week as a daily driver. FYI I work for a food company and clock around 1200 miles a week going from site to site - my normal daily driver is hopeless in the snow so I decided to buy a cheap truck to get around. 3 months ago before this weather you could have bought a knackered old Disco or Shogun for sweeties. However, since the freeze there has not been a decent 4x4 north of Leeds on any forums for under 1200 quid! Having had a chat with a farmer make of mine he suggested a four/sportrak as a solution.
I need to order Spark Plugs, Air and Oil Filters for my 1989 Sportrak 1.5 EL 16v. I need to know if my engine has a Carburettor or is Fuel Injection. I think I have a Carburettor. Sorry to sound like a dummy but how can I know this for sure? Does anyone have a picture of the engine block so I can compare to mine?
I have a Sportrak - a 96 Anjou - with auto hubs, and have a question re the engagement of 4WD.
When I want 4WD I follow the handbook guidance and bring the vehicle to a complete stop and after moving the gear lever to 4H then pull away to lock the front hubs. When I want to go back to 2WD I bring the vehicle to a halt again and then move the gearlever back to 2H.
We've finally got the snow down here in Somerset, we had about 8 inches where I am. I have to get to work no matter the weather and I normally get a lift into work in a Ford Ranger(2wd cheap version). We got stuck in snow twice today, and me having a Fourtrak, was think I could do better. I am very worried about transmission wind up though. If I use 4WD on the snowy roads will it happen? I travel on the A39 for about 4 miles and smaller, normally ungrited B roads and lanes for about another 4 miles. What would your advise be for using 4WD?
Been reading the forum for a few days now, some fab info on here.
Currently planning an old 4x4 , previous car was an old Subaru legacy estate which was great fun but the fuel was hurting- changed it for my skoda octavia. its great on fuel but not so good in the snow ! (even with colway snow tyres from the rally car lol )
Hi/
We where recently looking around our local Daihatsu Garage when the salesman said why not trade in your fourtrak for a new Terios and save some money with the scrappage scheme.
