I had a look at the web today and found some pics of a mitsubishi pajero (the short one from around 1986-89) it looked like some of the parts from it could fit my feroza, anybody that knows about "carry over parts" between the jap four by fours ??

ello folks just a question ive had fourtaks in the past and done a lot of towing with them,
now i have my first sportrak its a elxi 16v and im about to have a towbar fitted do any of you have one and regularly tow say trailers and caravans with them
as mine will be worked.
how do they fair are they up to it.

Ive just put a soft top on my much loved sporty (and yes it has rained ever since!) and contacted my insurance company, esure, to let them know as I was advised to do this by the guy I got it from. My premium hasnt gone up which is great, the only problem is that it now has some exclusions. One of them is that I do not have personal cover , If i lose a limb or heaven forbid my life they do not make any payment out for this. One of the other exclusions is that due to the soft top, if i have an accident and have to call an ambulance I have to pay for the ambulance which is apparently around £100!!
whats good for economy - i reckon i get 32 mpg on motorway (65-70mph), can go up to 35mpg on a-roads but will go down to 27mpg if i push it up above 75mph. towing i`m down to around 22mpg however (its a 1600kg caravan!) - i`ve got a straight-thro k&n filter and a straight thro powerflow exhaust so theres minimum restriction on the gasflow (actually its amazingly quiet considering)
reason i ask is the missus has been saying we should trade in for a kia sorrento but i`m unconvinced as the fourtrak has more character and does the job (commuting, kids, pulling caravan etc) adequately - besides which it is fully paid for and owes me nothing
What is the average life span for the clutch on a diesel Fourtrack I do very little towing. Its done about 110000 miles and recently there seems to be a bit more noise coming from the clutch/gearbox area any opinions would be useful.

Hi, I am in Macclesfield in Cheshire, and I am in love with 2.8TD Daihatsu Fourtrak's. I have just bought a 1987 2.8TD Long wheel base. I do not know the history, but I am concerned about the cam belt - how can I tell if it has been replaced? If it hasnt, how much will it cost me to replace it - I will pay whatever it costs cos "I love my Di" - but dont want to be ripped off. Can I get hold of 2 newer front seats, the ones in the Di I have just bought are PVC/material and are craked/torn. I dont realy want to buy new seats, they would ruin the rugged looks - but I wouldnt mind some nice velor comfy seats (in grey) that I could just bolt in. Also mud flaps for the rear if anyone has any going. Please let me know as soon as poss. I have tried to submit a reques in the wanted section for Rear Door Hinges as the upper one is broken clean off and I cannot open the door. If anyone has one, let me know how much including P&P and consider the cheque in the post - as you can tell I need this hinge urgently!!! Many thanks.
