As you can gather Im new to 4 wheel drive vehicals I have been told to drive with it in 4wheel drive once a month but Ive been reading from some of you guys never to use 4 wheel drive on the road does that mean I've got to get my little Barbie truck dirty.
Also does 4 wheel drive work in reverse.
Cheers for help.

After 185,000 miles of hard work I have now come to the conclusion that it is necessary to replace the engine and gearbox in my Fourtrak (clutch, and maybe the transfer box as well) with fully reconditioned units, but not being capable of undertaking the task, I will need the services of a reputable organisation who will supply all parts and labour and give a good warranty etc.
Does anyone know of a good establishment (preferrably in Scotland - if not anywhere in the UK will do) who has the capability.
Just purchased my first sportrak well pleased!
Has anyone got an A Bar for sale and set of front fogs
also when I use the electronic ride adjuster nothing seems to happen or should there be a noticeable differance in ride
thanks yogi
ps I have got workshop manual on cd pdf format if anyone requires a copy
Thanks guys,
I guess your explanations have cleared up my confusion now, also the advice about having any alterations to the diffs/axles will be taken as i wouldn't want to complicate things later(i suppose this could be done to a vehicle which is strictly for off road use only).I appreciate you taking the time to explain this subject,
Higgin.
after talking to a fellow off roader at briercliffe,i am a bit confused about whether a sporty is a true 4 wheel drive! He mentioned that in 4 wheel drive,my sporty only has two wheels engaged in 4 wheel drive and these are one at the front, one at the back and these two would be diagonally opposite each other! Is this the case with all 4x4's or the sporty in particular? He also said that you could have the differentials done for about 200 quid to make all the wheels engage in 4 wheel drive. If this is so why has the sporty got two front manual locking switches if only one would normally engage in 4 wheel drive, also why are they reffered to as 4 wheel drive if only two wheels are engaged? Can anyone explain all this clearly in laymans terms or this just peculiar to sporty's only? Thanks all,
just a wee word of interest is anybody out their going to our first meet dont want to book anything till iknow as my wee sporty will drink a lot of petrol from glasgow hope their is a good responce in next few days
