WATCH YOUR PILOT SHAFT BEARING

Forum:

Hi all, Was just putting a new clutch in my works Sportrac 1.6 efi, when i pulled the clutch cover off i found that the centre plate friction material was worn down to the rivets on the cover side and fine on the flywheel side (thank god). whilst changing the release bearing and cleaning the first motion shaft i noticed that there werent any marks on it where the pilot bearing would have been, checking the bearing in the end of the crank it had worn away by about 3mm.

How Strong?

Forum:

I have only had my sportrak for a month and am not sure about how strong these vehicles are, having owned suzuki and Land Rover in the past, this is my first Daihatsu.

How strong are they off road, especialy the front cv,s and the half shafts?

I am planning an off road trip and was thinking of taking spares, apart from the usual, any thing on a sportrak that is not really man enough for some serious mud bashing?

Great Truck

Forum:

For those folks who log in looking for info on FOURTRAKs and durability. My FOURTRAK is
a 1992Jreg with 185,000 miles
on the ticker. In all that
driving the only work done on it beyond routine maint. has
been two rt rear leaf springs.
It is a superb and reliable vehicle. It goes into the shop next week for paint. I wish they were still in production.... Wink
