auto vs manual

Forum:

was involved in heated debate today as to what the true loss(if any!) of power and acceleration is through having an auto box..one side is saying big loss of power because of weight etc but the other side is saying its negligible on acceleration because of quicker gear change..any thoughts?

F50 headlamp rims

Forum:

Does anybody know of a source of headlamp rims for F50's. My fathers plastic bodied version is suffering from terminal rot in the chrome outer rims which hold the lights in - can't find any replacements so the lights wobble about. I assume they're the same as the normal F50. Thanks.

lack of power

Forum:

Many thanks to everyone who helped me with my fourtrak lift over the past couple of months. I ended up doing a 2" body lift, it went smoothly and am happy with resuls.

My fourtrak has a lack of power due to the fact my tyres are 31/10.5/R15 MTs. This is changing my overall final drive ratio resulting in a big lack of torque and wrecking my fuel consumption! Is there any way i can put my ratio back to normal by using other daihatsu transmission parts???

Fourtrak electrics

Forum:

Good evening I have a 98 F78 and have just bought some second hand optional upper rear lights to fit to it. When I removed the blanking plate i was expecting to find the electrics in order to connect them straight in, no such luck sadly!!!! does anybody know where if any the connectors are located or is is a case of wiring them in myself, cheers!!! Wierd or what!

Forum:

Hi Guys!
Just been sat out in my dear old F75 having a quiet moment when for no apparent reason the speakers in the side panels came to life. Just as if someone had turned the radio on with the volume turned down. They continued to hiss and crackle on and off for sometime. The radio was turned off and the keys were not in the ignition.
Is it time for the staight jacket or has anyone else had the same experience?

Cross Threaded sump bolt

Forum:

Hi gang - It would appear that some DIY weekend warrior has cross threaded my Foutrak sump bolt :0( I managed to remove but the bolt threads are knacke'd Not sure on the sump threads but would need a retap at the least!! If anyone knows what size tap I need an where from let me know?

I then took all the sump bolts out in an attemp to remove sump to weld a nut on. Removed all the bolts but the sump just will not shift - anyone have any ideas?

First time off road!!! weeeeeeeeee bang oops :o)

Forum:

I've just got back from my first off road session at dalby forest. What a day, i had the best time ever. well up until my right foot got a little carried away and started to go a little too quickly and my fourtrak started bouncing around on a muddy rocky road until it slid sideways and came to a stop with a bang! it didn't take long to realise my left front tyre was no longer intact with the rim. oh dear how embarrasing Blush
