I recently aquired a very good condition F78 1995.It however
overheats on normal or motorway long inclines while towing my lightweight Caravan(Max Gross Weight 1045Kg.) Driving solo there is no problems which seems to rule out the thermostat.It does have an A-Bar with 2 Cibie Oscars driving lamps, could these be restricting the airflow to the radiator? I would appreciate any

Hi guys, I have a 1998 Daihatsu Feroza/Sportrak 4x4 with manual locking front hubs. But i have one very stupid question... Does the feroza actually have central differential locking when you put it in 4x4 or does it only do normal 4H and 4L without actual Central Differential locking inside the diffs ????
Whilst washing our Fourtrak I heard the sound of water landing in a pool of water obviously accumulating in a water trap behind the front wings. I prodded around and found that the drain holes had become blocked.
Are there any other drain holes in the bodywork which need to be cleared of gunge - or other water traps to beware of?

Having difficulty finding any info (anywhere)about the different variations of the Sportrak.
It seems to me (correct me if I'm wrong)that pre 1990 all were carb engines so there was no i in the name ie. EL, ELX etc.
So
1)what does the E, L, X, etc all stand for?
2)Are all pre 1990 engines (with carbs) all 8 valve?
3)Are all post 1990 injection engines 16 valve?
4)Am I barking up the wrong tree completely?
Whilst am determined to find a Sporty (see wanted section) I am a little concerned at the many references I find to "head gasket replaced" or "overheats" etc etc.
Is there a common theme here with Sportraks. I decided to not have a suzuki because they all seem to rot away but am I swapping that problem for a greater one.
I have a 1996 independant TDX SE for sale, It has a full service history and is MOT and taxed.
It has a full leather interior, electric front windows, electric mirrors, multi stack CD player, air conditioning, front bull bar with spot lights, it has done just over 80000 miles and has had a new timing belt fitted at 66171.
It does require a small weld to one of the sills, but not a very big job. overall it is in reasnable condition.
The 'trak will have a tug of it from time to time, so as I've got a '95 facelift model with the single leaf rear springs, does anyone know if spring assistors are availiable for a Sportrak, or can you still get universal ones? Also what's the max towing weight for these things?
At last I have finnished my f70 and its ready for MUD!!! Just need to fit the wheel spacers to complete. Pretty good articulation with a couple of leaves removed from the rear springs. You can see the pic in the rocky album. Any one got any good ideas for front bumper mods? and any photos of yours in action?
Thought I'd introduce myself, and my latest Ebay purchase- a 1988 F77 Fourtrak normally aspirated 2.8d LWB, in 'Farmers Favourite Green'!
Bodywork battered but not too rusty (the truck, not me) with 111k miles showing, but seemingly mechanically sound and still pulling strongly. I may live to regret saying this, but the chassis looks remarkably good, too.
Definitely needs new glow plugs- aside from fluids and filters, are there any other 'must do' maintenance jobs I should be doing right now? Also, are the doors from other variants interchangeable with the pick up, as mine have definitely seen better days...!
