had my first real off roading experience yesterday in my sportrak and loved it, got a bit scary wondering what hit the floor and stuff all the time, turned out it was mainly the tow bar which was a relief, and locking up on a 40% downhill was a bit scary but ill get over it and be there again in a months time i assume
i was wanting to give her a checkover to check nothing is damaged/waterlogged or clogged with mud or anything could anyone give me a checklist of things to check, bearing in mind im not that good with cars i know enough to do basic maintenance but no more. thanks a lot
Could anyone offer any advice on servicing a fourtrak.
Firstly, how often should they be serviced?
What should be done in the service, how often should the glow plugs be changed?
What is a reasonable amount to pay for a service
I live in Coventry, can anyone reccommend a reputable garage in this area which I could use.
Thanks.
Hi Gents!
Just joined as I have at last got ride of the B*****y Surf that has plagued my life for the last 2 years and have gone back to a Fourtrak. In my opinion the best 4x4 that I have owned, and I`ve owned a few in my time.
Wonder if there`s anyone out there in Fourtrak land that can help me with some new decals. I had to remove the old ones to treat a bit of surface rust. Is it still possible to get them or am I urinating against the wind on this one? Also, I`m after a good second hand starter moter for my 2.8 TDX. Anyone got one lying around?
I need to replace the timing belt of my 97 Rocky 2.8 TDI with the DL52 engine.
I need information about the appropriated belt like part number, or dimensions, characteristics, or anything because it has been very difficult for me to find one and I don’t want to take away the one already fitted because I need to use the vehicle
my daughter is seriously looking for a four track, one particular one is very local and is getting MOT'ed tomorrow. it's about a 1990 model with windows in the back and a diesel engine.
We are hoping to go and look at it shortly, i just want to know what should i look for, i guess there are some places they can go rusty or mechanical bits that wear, although i suppose if it passes the MOT it cant be THAT bad.
Have just bought a Fourtrak last week, know nothing about them apart from how much fun they are, was looking for wheel sizes / fitments and stumbled on here in Google. Seen all sorts of numbers / letters for my model so wanting to find out a bit more about it. It's a '94 model, TDX (I think), with the more modern interior, 2.8 T Diesel, pulls like a train but very, very thirsty on juice (like 25 quid to do 150 miles thirsty...) Wheels need tidying so was looking at getting some nice alloys or pretty steel ones. Any advice on tyres also greatly appreciated...not going to do a lot of off roading, mainly towing light stuff.
Stupid question (as ever from me!) but can anyone tell me if my 1990 Fourtrack 2.0 EL is likely to be fitted with an immobiliser (ie. were they standard fit at the time), or how I can check?
I've just bought a Fourtrak 1990 2.0 EL as I need to do some light off-road stuff.
Having never owned a 4X4 I was wondering if someone could give me an absolute idiots guide to what settings should be used in what situation? For example - deep muddy rutted field - first move small lever to 4H, then press switch on dash and then move hubs to 'lock'.
I really am that clueless! Any help would be much appreciated....
