Pulling a caravan how big or how small can it pull

I have a 1.6 ELXi Sportrak 1993, when the engine warms up and the temp gauge moves just past the C to normal, the engine managment light flickers on, it splutters and if you let the reves die it cuts out. After cutting out it won't re-start for about 10 mins. when cooled a bit it then starts again.
The strange thing is that if you run it at high rev's the spluttering passes and once up to the edge of the thermometer (normal) she goes like muck off a stick.
Can anyone help me please? It's driving me mad. I need to know where to look for this fault so as to resolve it once and for all.

I have recently acquired a Fourtrak. The indentification plate has on it F80/85. Are these 80 and 85 essentially the same model and is mine much different from the F75. I have seen on this site CDs for sale for the 75 but not for the F80/85. Can anyone give me a run down on the different models around the vintage of mine which is 1986.

Reading through an old 4X4 magazine the other day I came across an article which showed the increases that can be had from turbo diesel lumps if they are set up correctly. I've owned a Daihatsu fourtrak for just over a year and to say the performance is a little disappointing would be an undestatement. Has anyone out there had this done and what have your findings been?? I've had a read through the LR boards and from what I've seen everyone raves about it, but how will this compare to my Daihatsu being done?? (I don't fancy doing it myself thats why I'd quite like mr Van Aaken to do it)

Hello there fellow Daihatsu owners. I have a Sportrak and was recently at the National 4x4 Show (disappointed there were no Sportraks present) and I purchased a Fuel Cat. I was wondering if anybody else has one on there vehicle. If so does it work? And secondly how the hell do you put it on? No instructions with it!
