Sirion oil consumption

Forum:

My 1999 1 litre petrol Sirion, produces blue smoke on start-up. Is this something to do with worn valve guides or seals? It is now starting to use oil. I suspect it has done a few more miles than the 30,000 shown on the clock. Can anybody tell me how much oil I should be using? Any help would be appreciated. Regards to all, Dennis.

Squeaking Under Acceleration

Forum:

Car: Charade 1988 (not 89 as I my name says - typo)

Displacement: 1 L

Problem:

There is a squeaking noise when I accelerate, especially on hill starts after I shift up into gear. This happens mainly in first, though if I accelerate fast then it happens in others.

What could this be?

There is a belt that runs on three pulleys and drives the alternator. Could the belt need r

octavia

Forum:

Can any one give me some advice. We have just bought a cuore, 1998, with a 850cc engine. There is a very loud knocking coming from the gearbox when its ticking over. If you put the clutch down it disappears completely. It seems to drive fine, just seems to knock when its ticking over. Is this a known problem with them, it's done 69,000 miles.

Thanks.

Grand Move cutting out :help:

Forum:

Hi

My Grand Move has been cutting out which is especially frustrating (and dangerous) at roundabouts and corners!!

I am a very busy mum so I thought I would phone a mobile tuner, but was told that the car has a computer on board and it could be a problem with that. Now I don't know where to go to get it tuned up by someone who knows what they're doing, we don't seem to have any Daihatsu garages where I live (St Albans, Herts). Any suggestions???

Help it sounds wrong...

Forum:

Help please,
I've got a Cuore (1998, automatic) and 2 days ago I noticed the enginee seems to sound louder and lower as soon as I put the foot on the accelerator - doesn't sound healthy at all but seems to be perfectly okay otherwise. I travel a fair bit and couldn't get to a garage, no obvious problems (no accidents, major bumps, hanging/damaged exhaust or other) and when it get's to 50 mph and over it sounds almost normal again, the minute I slow dows it comes back - more a roar then a quiet humming... If anyone has any thougths at all I'd really appreciate it because I'm stuck at work, not sure when I'll be able to get to my garage and I'll need it a lot this week as luck would have it Sad

1998 Grand move timing belt

Forum:

My 1998 1500cc Grand Move, which I have had for a year, has done 70-odd thousand miles, and probably has the original timing belt. I cannot find a workshop manual for less than £100, and therefore am a bit stuck for info about the correct tension for the new belt, and any other relevant tips. I'd be very grateful if anyone can advise. Thanks, Dave Fisher.
