hey! i recently bought a '94 charade
detomaso. i've been looking around under
the bonnet while servicing and can't get
over the amount of electronic connectors
just hanging there connected to nothing!!is there something missing from my car??
has anyone any experience of these cars
because i'm finding it hard to get info!
anything greatly appreciated!
I own a 2-door Charade 86, recond. '93. My car doesn't cause much problem, but its RPM meter teases me everytime I get into the drivers seat. I've seen this issue in a couple of charades', but no one is as concerned as I am to resolve it.
Actually, the problem is, if the car is parked in the sun for long hours or is driven for 30 minutes or so at night (in a hot weather), the RPM needle starts to motion. This is very surprising behaviour. Even if I pump the full accelarator, the needle hardly crosses level 2, but thankfully, it atleast picks to that level. Yet another surprise; if I get my car serviced at this time, the RPM will go to sleep for next 3/4 months, & after this much time, it starts to motion - teasing all over again.
i have a 1985 daihatus charade and my sister got the key stuck in the igintion barrel . when i tryed to get it out it snapped off i have removed the streeling wheel and dash board cassing but have no idear how to get the barrel off any idears pleas help
i have a 1984 charade turbo with the CB60 carby motor. There are two screws at the back of the carby to adjust idle and the air/fuel micture. The idle adjusting screw (small one) works fine but the throttle adjusting screw (big one) doesn't seem to be doing anything. If anyone knows what i'm talking about or is familiar with the engine, can u please tell me what the problem could be? Why doesn't the screw do anything?
hi, everyone. im new to the forum. and have a bit of a question regarding the timing belt. recently the timing belt broke on my charade, and i need to replace it. ive already removed the head, and checked for any damage, had it milled, and replaced it. the question i have is can anyone post, or send me a picture of a correct timing mark setting? i currently live in north america, and there isnt much in the way of repair information here. its an 89, and the engine is a 1.0 litre, petrol. any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
Has anyone ever had to do the head gasket a second time. I bought the car in easter with 184k and the guy had the head gasket done at 160k. The engine overheated badly on me last month and was turning over like a sewing machine. I took it apart and had the head skimmed, It was really bad, took off about 0.5mm. I was trying to find a head saver on the net to no avail so I just put two gaskets in instead. It ends up being about 1mm to high. It starts really smoky and lots of knocking and after warming for 20 mins is almost like it used to be but still a bit rough and not smoky.
I have had 2 Daihatsu Charades and had the same "pinking" problem with both. The strange thing is the noise goes away when I accelerate or rev the engine. My local dealers say "daihatsus don't "pink"!" but both of mine have. They tried to blame supermarket petrol but surely not every Daihatsu owner gets their petrol from independent garages. Has anyone had the same problem or can suggest any solutions.
I had reason to look at the rear bearings on my Charade today and thought that I would have a quick look at the brake shoes and cylinders for a condition check, however, it appears that one needs to loosen the bearings to get the brake drum off. Does anyone know if this is the case and could you please confirm this?
I remember having a car several years ago where this was the case. I have been used to Peugeots where the drums come off relatively easily without removing the bearings.
My Charade 1.3 (1993) will not idle below 1500rpm. When I am stopped at traffic lights the engine rev's up and down between 1500rpm and 2000rpm, without me touching the pedal. Would there be a faulty sensor. I did have the heater radiator repaired earlier this year, is it possible that water may be in the box below the heater radiator. The above fault did happen before, but then engine rev's were ok.
Does anyone use the aircon in their Charade? I found that mine is not worth turning on.You need an aircon during Australian summers.I don't think that the gas is out; it was only done 2 years ago. Or do you need to gas them more regularly?
