New Hijet owner

Forum:

Hi all, I have just purchased a little '97 993cc Hijet, firstly to assist with a house move and then hopefully to keep for camping etc. It's a little rough round the edges but I'll tidy it up a bit, it was bought for the princely sum of £500 so I wasn't expecting too much on the looks front! Here is a picture of it at the moment, and then after a bit of Photoshopping how I'd like to have it after a tidy up-

Amazing advice. Thank you all.

Forum:

I've become the new owner of an old Sportrak. (HD-C Engine, one of the first off the line, I suppose.)

First things first, got it down to it's undies, and swapped out the cambelt, using instructions provided on this very forum. Drove it to work, it Ran so hot it blew the Rad (in exactly the same place as another user on this forum told someone it would... jeez, you guys are good...)

Hijet Engines

Forum:

Could anyone please confirm which engine is fitted to an R reg Hijet. It is a 3 cylinder engine but the decal on the rear door(it's a 5 door people carrier)says 1300 EFI and I've been told it's a 1296cc engine. Is there such a thing as a 1300 3 cyl engine?

Another Mongol Rally Hijet

Forum:

Hi All,

We are team Psychedelic Pirates going on the Mongol Rally in 2008. WE have bought a Hijet MPV which we hope will get us to Ulan Baataar. Need a bit of advice as to putting larger struts springs and wheels on it. Can you get bigger struts and springs and are there any larger wheels that will fit. We think it may be a good idea to have a snorkel as well, any advice?

Mongol Rally 2008

Forum:

Hi
I have got my place on the Mongol Rally 2008 starting in July, the vehicle that we use is a 1998 R reg Hijet 1.0L EFI Panel Van.
The van is broke at the moment with all the classic problem of overheating , boiled the engine will not start. Andy my team mate a builder and myself an Electrician will get it going over the coming months and stay going over the trip.
