Need help, Air Conditioner - Applause 16Xi

Forum:

I am the owner of Daihatsu Applause 16Xi (A101) from year 1997.

My car has air conditioning system that doesn’t work correctly and in the range of 200-300 km not one car service could help me.
The air conditioner (compressor, condenser, expansion valve, evaporator) works fine and makes cool air without any problems. But after a short time of cooling 2 releys (I think) start turning on and off. (I think that one is used to switch the compressor and the other is for the expansion valve) The time between the 2 releys (switches) turn on and off is always the same, app 5-10 seconds, and then the rotation of the engine starts to decrease and increase. While driving faster it’s harder to notice, but if the car is not moving, the rotation of the engine decreases to 400-500 rpm and after a few seconds it increases to 1800-2000 rpm. This repeats constantly, the whole car starts to twitch, untill the air conditioner is turned off.

YRV Clock Replacement

Forum:

Hi - when I replaced the stereo in Mrs U's 2002 1.3 premium YRV recently, the clock stopped working. OK, I did bang the thing about a bit! (The dash and Mrs U...)

Has anyone else had problems with this clock breaking, needing replacing or are there any suggestions for replacing it?

I'd prefer to get it working again - the light still comes on when the lisgts are switched on, is there another connector to fit or have I broken it? I'd appreciate your advice.

Charade EL July 04, drive shafts gone before 10,000 miles

Forum:

The car has just come back from it's 2nd annual service with a report advising the immediate replacement of both drive shafts. It hasn't even done 10,000 miles yet and is still under waranty which should cover the bill which is not cheap by any stretch (£240.50 for one and £275.90 for the other PLUS labour). Hovever what really concerns me is medium term viability of the car. We have never owned one before and with this kind of serious problem at just 2 years old we would have to think hard before buying another.

Order of connecting 5 wires (under steering column) 1991 Charade?

Forum:

Hi,
Caught someone trying to hotwire my car last night. I still have my car, but now have 5 wires dangling underneath steering column, and 5 (or 6) 'spades' to connect them to (via a plastic connector bracket), but dont know which wire connects in which spot.

Are there any 1991 Charade owners out there who might be able to describe to me the order that the wires connect to the 6 pins? (eg black to 1st top row, blue to 2nd top row, white to 1st bottom row etc)
