YRV Turbo motorway mpg seems a bit poor

Forum:

Just recently bought a YRV Turbo. I am getting around 36 mpg whilst driving at a brisk pace (around 80 mph) but not aggressively. I was expecting to get around 40+ MPG. The car has just been main dealer serviced.

Just wondering what other YRV Turbo owners were getting a realistic motorway speeds?

Also, what are you folks getting during town only driving?

gearbox compatability

Forum:

hey guys! my detomaso has been garaged for the last 2 months with a
knackered gearbox because i simply haven't been able to source a replacement!
its an auto box and the prices i've been quoted for a rebuild are just scary!
I'm trying to avoid converting to manual.. my question is, does anyone know
what other cars i might find that gearbox on?? surely it wasn't designed just
for the charade..the oil filter and some parts are compatable with

My Daihatsu's Engine Problem

Forum:

How could I help to eliminate engine hesitation during abrupt acceleration?

Last December I was driving to work with fuel running low in my tank when at one point in time I managed to drive over a "POT HOLE" and the engine started to jerk and perform badly. Until then, as I continued driving to the nearest station I refuelled the engine seemed to be recovering engine power was being restored. I visited mechanics a number of times to clean the carburettor and tank but it seems that on abrupt acceleration or when the engine is still cold, unfortunately the engine hesitates to perform well. Some other thing that I noticed was that as soon as the rev counter reaches the three thousand mark the engine suddenly gives a significant power increase. Please note that the vehicle has no fitted turbo's because this could deviate from the answers I need.

My Daihatsu's Electrical problem

Forum:

Dear Colleagues...

I have some problems on my Applause...

During the last few months, I used to experiance problems with the high beam and lower beam. In fact once a month I have to dismantle the steering column switch and clean the contacts. In fact whilst cleaning, I notice that with the terminals of the high and low beams some carbon deposits are present. When cleaning I use electrical cleaner and after I'm finished I use a small sanding paper to clear the contacts from any oxide. I re-treat the contacts once again with contact cleaner and everything will be fine for roughly a month's time

Engine problems when cold

Forum:

I own a Daihatsu Applause 16X (Carburettor) and each morning, on starting the engine (when cold) automatic choke is OK and engine runs at 1250rpm. But when it comes to rev the engine, until the needle reaches the desired rpm, the engine hesitates a bit.

Also when it comes to moving off, the engine stalls momentarily, then power comes up soon after. Then as the engine runs performance gets better and rev counter needle goes up smoothly.
