I've just bought a Sirion Rally 2 a couple of months ago, I'm very pleased with it especially as it's quite nippy & economical.
The car is low milage with a full service history & seems genually looked after, however I've noticed that it seems to be 'Pinking' when hot or cold & the tappits sound noisy.
I've tried super unleaded a couple of times which has made little diffrence & took it to the Diahatsui garage where I bought the car, which informed me that there's nothing wrong with it.
I've owned a 1989 Charade for a year now and just noticed the floor is soaking wet on the drivers side front and back next to the middle column after heavy rain (or so it seems). I lifted the carpets and found puddles in the footwells. Is this a common problem. Any help would be apppreciated.
Thanks.
Hi I have got a 2000 Daihatsu Sirion GTVi with about 90000KM on it. A great little car fun to drive and economical. I have noticed a crunching sound when I push the clutch in, at first I thought it was the clutch cable but I can hear the sound clearly coming from the selector area on the gearbox. I am suspecting the clutch will need to be replaced. Anyone had similar problems? I am in Australia and understand it will cost around $1000-$1200 to replace.
HI
I'm the proud owner of a 1996 1.3 injected G200 charade with a 5 speed manual, I've recently done a load of maintennace to the car which include timing belts & CV's.
My Problem is that not on every start from a stationary position and sometimes when on the move and gearing up whilst giving the car some throttle and letting the clutch out I get a knock. This is sometimes loud and sometimes not that loud at all. When I changed the CV's I observed play in the CV splnes by rolling them forwards and backwrds and thy seemed pretty tight and no knock could be heard although this may be different under an engine load.
hi, i have a 1.0l charade turbo-diesel engine, but the wreckers who sent it had no idea what year it is- any clues as to how to figure it out? also does anybody have/know where to get a workshop manual for this engine? cheers jonr
Can any one help please? I took my Daihatsu Terios to the local garage for a service and mot, vehicle is 4 years old.The vehicle ran perfect before going in for service however when I collected it the MIL was on and it was running erratically. I took the car back and they said that they would put back the old three pronged plugs and take out the two pronged plugs that they had put in,they said that the resistance of the two pronged plugs may have led to the MIL being lit. The car runs well now as before but the MIL will not go out, can anyone suggest a remedy? Gary
Hi guys
Having problem with 1998 Fourtrak. I have two keys with the built in immobilizer, but not the master key. Both are well used.Tried to start vehicle this morning, had difficulty turning ignition on with either key,now neither key will turn at all, looks like lock mechanism is worn. I have a key which was cut as a spare without the immobilizer part on,this key turns in the lock o.k and with the immobilizer key taped to it works. Does anybody know if the immobilizer circuit can be bypassed on the lock,to allow the cut key to work without the taped on key,as i would imagine a replacement lock + keys would cost an arm and a leg.
Hello...I just picked up a 1989 Daihatsu Charade with the 1 litre 3-cylinder here in Seattle. It's in great shape...except that it doesn't run, no spark. I got a new ECU for it, but the question is: Where is it located? And if that don't fix it, then I figure I got 3 other issues at hand: Bad coil, bad power transistor or bad distributor. They hardly have any Daihatsus of any breed here, and the parts support is horrid here, so all I've got to go by is you kind folks (Sorry about the arse-kissing...I just need a running car!).
In trying to resolve a fault on the courtesy light , I have blown the fuse to the radio and clock. Any one know where this fuse is located? I have checked the fuse panels to the right of the drivers footwell but all are intact.
Hi... I took the housing off the engine block for the thermostat which had the top radiator pipe attached. what i found was no thermostat. just empty housing which is in fact too small to house any thermostat that my local store supplies. The car shows signs of in fact having a thermostat. e.g. the heater works perfectly and the top radiator pipe hardens after the car heats up, which indicates the thermostat is closing.
